Jacqueline Arsivaud,  County Board of Supervisors in the Fifth District

For the past 13 years, Jacqueline Arsivaud has volunteered her time fighting on behalf of San Diego County’s unincorporated areas ensuring the voices of these communities would be heard by County decision makers.  Over and over again, many of the major decisions impacting the community she has represented and called home for 26 years came down to a simple vote of three supervisors out of five.  She came to realize that even after the County spent $18 million dollars in taxpayer money and 13 years crafting a roadmap for smart growth, placing housing density away from dangerous fire areas and close to infrastructure, supervisors were still making decisions that would have permanent and existential impacts on the quality of life of residents throughout the County. Votes taken with little transparency and back door access for the well-connected have been undermining the integrity of that roadmap, and risk turning San Diego into another Orange County or LA. This is why she chose to run.

Her business sense and ability to build coalitions, won through two decades of senior management positions at top technology firms as well as her own start-ups, gave her the tools to negotiate and navigate the complexities of County land use policy and to craft win/win solutions.  This combination of business acumen and fluency in County bureaucracy and politics will be a great asset to the citizens of San Diego County to be ready to serve on day one.

After her many years of service to the voters of the San Dieguito area and the towns of Elfin Forest and Harmony Grove, we look forward to bringing the same dedication, passion for our quality of life and transparency to the Board of Supervisors.

Jacqueline is a tireless fighter for her community.  As a former supervisor myself for over 20 years, I know that land use policy is the one area where a County supervisor exerts the most influence on the quality of life of our citizens and where we spend most of our time.  Jacqueline’s in-depth knowledge of the ins and outs of land use, serving on the San Dieguito Planning Group but also successfully fighting general plan amendments throughout the County in her role as community leader, makes her uniquely qualified to serve the citizens of San Diego County. I fully support her candidacy.
